Hello,
I am running Splunk Light (free version) on Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty). I was previously running Splunk version 6.2 and today downloaded the .deb installer for Splunk version 6.4. After using dpkg to install the new package (which seemed to work successfully) I am now receiving the following errors when trying to start splunk:
root@splunk:/opt/splunk# ./bin/splunk start --accept-license
This appears to be an upgrade of Splunk.

Splunk has detected an older version of Splunk installed on this machine. To
finish upgrading to the new version, Splunk's installer will automatically
update and alter your current configuration files. Deprecated configuration
files will be renamed with a .deprecated extension.
You can choose to preview the changes that will be made to your configuration
files before proceeding with the migration and upgrade:
If you want to migrate and upgrade without previewing the changes that will be
made to your existing configuration files, choose 'y'.
If you want to see what changes will be made before you proceed with the
upgrade, choose 'n'.

**couldn't run "(null)/bin/splunkd" "btool": No such file or directory
Could not open log file "/opt/splunk/var/log/splunk/migration.log.2016-05-13.14-11-06" for writing (13).**
I have Splunk installed in the default location (/opt/splunk/) and working as a root user (with sudo -i). I manually inspected /opt/splunk/var/log/splunk and don't see any files named anything like "migration.log.*".
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
